The present invention is an ultra-compact capillary electrophoresis (CE) device that can operate both independently and in connection with any mass spectrometer (MS) using a product-specific adapter that can be mounted on the CE device. This bioanalytical tool is suitable for CE-ESI-MS based analysis of different samples, it is compact, easy to use and robust in design, which is compatible with all types of mass spectrometers currently available on the market. The UCESI device (100) consists of a product-specific mounting frame (101), a thermostatable capillary module (102), an ESI port (103), a movable sample tray (104), and a serving unit (105).
