The present invention relates to a method for examining the condition of the fetus in utero, by means of which it is possible to monitor the fetal heartbeat sounds with a smartphone on the basis of phonocardiographic measurements. It is an object of the present invention to provide a small-scale, low-cost, simple, non-invasive device for home use and an associated mobile application for acoustically sensing fetal heart sound and determining instantaneous heartbeat rate, and for monitoring can also be successfully implemented by non-professionals.
