Eszter Szakács specialises in patent law. She represents both multinational clients and innovative SMEs operating in a number of sectors of industry, most notably pharmaceuticals and medical devices, in patent infringement cases and cancellation proceedings, as well as in litigation relating to licence agreements and inventor royalty fees, patent transfers and authorisations. Eszter has provided representation in a number of preliminary ruling procedures before the Court of Justice of the European Union. Besides patent law, she has extensive experience in pharmaceutical regulations, medicines regulatory authority procedures and life sciences law, supplementary protection certificates, technology transfer and protecting trade secrets, as well as competition law. Besides her litigation work, she is well versed in drafting licence-, assignment of rights- and other agreements, and advising on her fields of specialisation.

She is a regular contributor, primarily on the subject of patent law, to international patent websites such as Kluwer Patent Blog and journals such as Les Nouvelles, and delivers presentations at conferences in Hungary and internationally. She is also a member of the EPLAW Patent Blog editorial board.

Since 2019 Eszter has been a partner in Danubia Legal and the name partner of one of the law firms operating under the Danubia Legal brand.
She previously worked as an attorney and between 2012 – 2018 a partner of Sár and Partners Attorneys at law.

Eszter graduated summa cum laude from Eötvös Loránd University Faculty of Law in 2004. During her studies she spent a semester at Universität Wien Faculty of Law in Vienna.
